COMMON NAME: Turmeric (Yellow)

BOTANICAL NAME: Curcuma longa

HABIT: Produces wonderful upright, medium, narrow leaves that spear out of the underground rhizome. Has a typically tropical look.

HEIGHT: In ideal conditions they can get up to 1 metre in height.

WIDTH: Being a rhizomatous plant, it can eventually spread metres into the landscape.

CLIMATE INFO: Thrives in tropical and sub-tropical areas. Is certainly frost sensitive but can be grown in protected igloos in cooler areas.

GARDEN USES: Creates a low, lush, tropical look for areas throughout the garden.

CULINARY USES: The rhizome is considered a super food and is a spice ingredient used across the world.
