Plectranthus (Dogbane)

COMMON NAME: Dogbane

BOTANICAL NAME: Plectranthus caninus

DESCRIPTION: A perennial spreading shrub that has a succulent type look to it withs its thick fleshy leaves. Produces masses of purple flowers on upright stems.

HEIGHT: Gets up to about 30cm.

WIDTH: Can span up to 1 metre in the right spot.

CLIMATE INFO: Prefers full sun to part shade, but may need more shade in really hot areas. Is quite versatile in different soil conditions. Doesn’t do well in repeated frost areas.

GARDEN USES: Can deter Dogs, Cats and certain insects. The flowers are a great bee attractant.

CULINARY USES: N/A.
