COMMON NAME: Naranjilla (Golden fruit of the Andes)
BOTANICAL NAME: Solanum quitoense
HABIT: A small evergreen shrub with large green, fury leaves that have purple tones. It is herbaceous in the cooler zones. Produces small white flowers which form into small yellow fruits.
HEIGHT: The plant can get up to 1.5 metres in good warm spots.
WIDTH: Will span about 600mm to 700mm.
CLIMATE INFO: Frost sensitive. Does its best in warm to hot zones.
GARDEN USES: Very unusual looking small shrub. Good ‘talking point’ specimen plant.
CULINARY USES: The fruit flavour quality has been described as one of the best in the world. A must have.
CONTAINER TYPE: 55mm Nursery Tube. (Tube diagonal width is 55mm, Tube height is 85mm).
CURRENT PLANT HEIGHT: Approximately 100mm to 150mm.
