COMMON NAME: Leighton Green
BOTANICAL NAME: Cupressocyparis leylandii
HABIT: A fast growing, tall conifer that is quite dense in its nature. Evergreen with lovely dark, fine foliage.
HEIGHT: If left unpruned this plant can push past 15 metres. Best pruned in between 3 to 6 metres.
WIDTH: Can span to about 4 metres. However, as a hedge they are best planted about 1.5 metres apart.
CLIMATE INFO: Climate wise this is a very versatile conifer. Tolerates both frost and salt areas. Can burn a little in extreme hot sun areas. Prefers good drainage and really fertile soils.
GARDEN USES: Dominantly used as a formal hedge that is pruned regularly. A high profile and exquisite hedging plant for impressive garden statements.
