COMMON NAME: Japanese Box
BOTANICAL NAME: Buxus microphylla var. japonica
DESCRIPTION: Produces compact, dense, glossy green foliage. Ideal for hedging and clipping.
HEIGHT: Can eventually grow up to 2 metres tall if it is not pruned. However the best results are achieved when it is kept clipped in between a height of 80cm and 1.2 metres.
WIDTH: Can span up to 1.5 metres. For use as a hedge it is best to plant approximately 40cm apart.
CLIMATE INFO: Will grow in full sun quite well. Performs well in cool zones all the way through to the mild tropical areas.
GARDEN USES: One of the best formal plants for hedges and topiaries.
