Dragon fruit (Yellow)

COMMON NAME: Yellow Dragon fruit

BOTANICAL NAME: Hylocereus megalanthus

HABBIT: A climbing cactus type plant that does produce aerial roots that aids ti to anchor itself to structures however it is best to support it on a trellis to achieve the best fruiting results.

HEIGHT: Best to train it to a height of about 2 to 2.5 metres and allow the plant to ‘weep’ over itself when producing fruit.

WIDTH: Keep it spanned to about 1,5 metres.

CLIMATE INFO: Produces well in warm to hot zones. Just keep it away from areas prone to regular frosts.

GARDEN USES: The flower produces by the plant is worth growing this plant alone…spectacular.

CULINARY USES: Produces a large yellow coloured fruit which has white pulp. The fruit is highly revered and eats best when ice cold.

CONTAINER TYPE: 55mm Nursery Tube. (Tube diagonal width is 55mm, Tube height is 85mm).

CURRENT PLANT HEIGHT: Approximately 100mm to 150mm.
