COMMON NAME: Coastal swamp foxtail
BOTANICAL NAME: Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Coastal’
HABIT: A warm season native, clumping grass. Has glossy green, narrow, strappy leaves. Produces a lovely feather like flower that is white with a slight purple hue through it.
HEIGHT: The coastal form rarely gets higher than 80cm.
WIDTH: Clumps out to about 30cm.
CLIMATE INFO: Holds its green colour through the warm season, and then straws off over winter before reshooting come spring. It does its best the longer the warm season is.
GARDEN USES: Great used on mass to create a grass landscape where the wind can catch the extending flower heads and move together in a mesmerising manner.
